Christmas Foods in the PH

BIBINGKA

Is another popular Filipino street food eaten during Christmas. This egg based dessert is eaten alongside Puto Bumbong. These foods are usually served on a banana leaf.

LECHON

 is a pork dish. The whole pig is roasted over charcoal. In the Philippines this dish is commonly served during big family celebrations or special occasions. Filipinos eat the meat with their hands.

LECHE FLAN

is a typical Filipino dessert made of eggs and milk, with soft caramel on the top.

PUTO BUMBONG

is a type of street food also considered as a delicacy that us traditionally served during the Christmas season, a rice cake made of steamed black glutinous rice puto called “pirurutong” cooked in bamboo bumbong then served with margarine, grated coconut and palm sugar granules.

QUESO DE BOLA

is the Filipino term, from Spanish, for Edam cheese. The term literally translates to “ball cheese.” It is a Dutch cheese in a spherical shape and coated with red wax.
